The art department at St Richard’s were delighted to welcome the world renowned artist and educator Ian Murphy into school to run two days of practical drawing workshops with year 9, 10 and 11 pupils again this term.
Pupil's were astounded to walk into the art rooms as they were filled with Ian's canvases, drawings and his incredible sketchbooks. Ian believes that allowing the students to see and touch his artwork and sketchbooks is a really important part of the introductory process and an invaluable way to motivate the students for the challenges of the workshops.
Pupil's created a variety of textured surfaces to work on before experimenting with new drawing techniques. They used pen, graphite and acrylic to discover new ways of creating tone in these incredible studies.
